Camp Beanies and Headgear |
|
|
|
Colored beanies and other hats were popular at camps in the early years.
They were sometimes used by camp societies. Order of the White Swastikas,
Order of the Ancient Oak, The Mystic Circle, Gimogash, etc. Sometimes they
were Honor Camper identification and other times they were just camp hats
available at the trading post. Camp Owasippe had beanies and each camp had
it’s own color, but they had nothing to do with advancement or achievement.
How scarce are some of the beanies? I’ve collected Owsippe for 50 years and
have never seen one. |

It’s unknown if these are Order of
the Mystic Circle or camp beanies.

program. Top camp honor was Nani-Ba-Zu. The beanie is cloth. |

Camp Mitigwa, Iowa. 1932-1935 For 1935 there were two different colors. Purple &
Green. Different colors for the same year, seems to indicate that they were for
levels of achievement or tenure. |
